Sew Along with Julie

Join Julie for a fun new sew along! We will be sewing McCall's 8358, a re-release of a 1970s Laura Ashley wrap dress pattern. The look is on-trend and comes with an interesting detail -- it's reversible! There is also a square neckline and wrap neckline all in one dress. Either can be worn on the front or the back! There is a lot of ease in this pattern making it an easy fit as well. It's the perfect spring/summer dress!

Week #1 Video: Getting Started
In this week's video, we will go over everything you need to get started - how to read the pattern envelope, finding your size, choosing fabric, notions, and cutting out the pattern from fabric. Have a specific question about something in this video? Drop it in the comments section of the YouTube video so others can see it too!

Week #2 - Let's Start Sewing!

In this week's video, we start to sew! We will sew the main skirt pieces and the sleeves, including a super cute ruffle on the sleeves! Plus, Julie will show you how she likes to insert elastic into casing -- it's such a simple technique, but so worth it!

Week #3 - Neckline Finishing

In this week's video, you will start seeing the dress take form! We'll work on finishing the neckline, attach a bias tape casing and insert the elastic to create a beautifully gathered neckline.

Week #4 - Ruffle Hem and Finishing

In the last week of the sew along, Julie will start by trying on the dress to test the fit. She will take a look at how the wrap works as well as looking at some fitting considerations. She will show you how to make the ruffle, hem it and attach it to the dress. By the end of this video, you will have a finished wrap dress, ready to wear to a garden party, around town or wherever you go!
