Faux fur is made of synthetic fibers and made to look like real animal fur. Colors can very from natural to bright neons. Faux fur can be used to make coats, jackets, accessories, trimming and costumes.
Faux suede is a synthetic fabric made to look like animal suede. It is has a soft, sometimes napped finish. It can come in different weights as well as woven and knit. Faux suede is suitable for jackets, blazer, skirts and accessories, depending on their weight. Moleskin is also a synthetic fabric that feels like a soft, suede. It doesn't usually have a nap. It normally comes in a suiting weight making it best for dresses, skirts, blazers, jackets and pants.
Leather-look fabrics include faux suede, leather knits, pleather, etc by the yard.
Leather hides are measured in square feet. Leather hides come in irregular shapes. Each yard of 36" wide fabric is equal to 12 square feet of leather. Each yard of 50" wide fabric is equal to 16 square feet of leather. Each yard of 54" wide fabric is equal to 18 square feet of leather.
Please note: All leather hides have natural imperfections to them. This may include a variation on dyes, small holes, and abnormal shapes. We inspect all leathers we receive so that you are receiving a good quality skin. The wrong side of the skin can be determined by looking for a number either printed or imprinted onto the back of the leather. This number also determines the size of the leather.
