Cotton is probably one of the most popular fabric contents out there. It is easy to sew with, making it great for beginners and advanced sewers alike. There are so many different types of cotton with different weights, weaves, prints and patterns.
The most common top-weight cottons are voile, batiste, shirting, lawn, quilt-weight, poplin and gauze. Popular bottom-weight cottons are twill, canvas, plainweave, velveteen, corduroy and denim. It can also be mixed with spandex making it great for pants, jackets, dresses, tops and skirts that move with you.
Cotton is also easy to care for -- machine wash and dry! (What more can you ask for?) We do recommend a gentle wash for more delicate cottons and more precious fabrications like velveteen.
