Made by a Fabricista: YouTube Edition | Thinking of Spring
DORY: As soon as I saw this beautiful Deep Strawberry/Tangerine/White Floral Cotton Shirting (found HERE if still available) I knew right away what dress I wanted to make with it. It’s such a lovely fabric that makes me feel like I’m taking a stroll in Paris to go to an outdoor cafe. I used McCall’s 7970 which is a maxi dress with tiered ruffles in various lengths. I decided not to put in the slit and I tacked the v-neck so that it wasn’t so low. It has an elastic waist. The fabric was a breeze to work with. Florals always make me happy.
The fabric was easy to work with.... but the edges fray quickly and easily. All seams were sewn with a serger except the neckline facing. There the edges were finished off with overcasting before sewing the facing in place. A beautiful light summer top for those hot summer days!
Unfortunately Fabric Mart Fabrics sell out quickly!
