Made By A Fabricista: Just in Time for Fall
Fall is one my favorite times of the year. The weather is just a little bit chilly. There is all sorts of activities, like haunted houses, pumpkin patches, & sunflower fields! I enjoy everything about fall. Many sunflower fields don’t open up until closer to August ending in Indiana, but I happened to find one open & it was everything I wanted it to be! Today, I’m sharing my first & favorite pair of Burnside bibs/overalls, which I think are amazing for any weather, but I love them for fall!
For the fabric, I used a beautiful yellow challis, which made the pants very breathable & flowy, however, for this pattern I would not recommend using challis unless you have experience sewing. When cutting challis sometimes it is very easy for the fabric to slip & alter the actual piece. The fabric was so beautiful & the floral pattern went in a different decoration than normal, so I cut it a little bit differently but it all worked out perfectly!
The sewing pattern I used was the Burnside Bibs by Sew House Seven. The pattern instructions were very easy to follow & if there were any instructions that you couldn’t quite understand there are a few Youtube tutorials that go step by step, which is extremely helpful for beginners, or anyone wanting to follow along. The pattern offers two different versions, but I think they’re both so cute! I made the second version, which ties in the back & is the longest length available.
I had a tiny bit of extra fabric at the end, so I decided I would make a matching knotted headband. I bought a plain headband & I completely covered it with the extra fabric, underneath I overlapped it so only one raw edge would show. It won’t matter right now, because you still have to put the “knot” overlay on. I cut 20 inches long & 6 inches wide, I tied a knot in the way & style that I wanted & then folded the fabric to hide the raw edges. I hot glued this close to the headband. On the end I folded the fabric in on the ends so that no raw edges were showing again & glued it shut.

This is beautiful! I love the color, yellow is my favorite color and you did an excellent job! The headband idea is great! I love to wear head scarves and bands so this gives me another way to wear them! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good sewing!
Love your bibs. Have a wonderful fall.
This is lovely. I also like how you paired the white top underneath. Do you mind sharing the pattern for the top?
That is a really cute outfit, Thanks for sharing, you look like you enjoy wearing it.
Love the fabric and that color looks great on you! So cheerful for summer but that mustardy ochre is right for fall. Great fabric choice.
Love this Macy! The color, fabric, pattern, and sunflower field is gorgeous.
